  • Streaming allows movies to be watched instantly by playing videos through your Internet-connected device. It doesn't require video to be stored on your computer or device and therefore does not require significant memory/storage. Streaming does require an active Internet connection. If you would like to watch a movie through the Disney Movies Anywhere app without an active Internet connection, you will need to download it first.
  • Downloading a movie from the Disney Movies Anywhere app saves the standard definition (SD) video file onto your device so you can watch it without an Internet connection. Currently, downloading is not offered through the Disney Movies Anywhere website.
  • You can stream your movies and videos from a signed-in Disney Movies Anywhere account on up to two different devices concurrently.
  • You may download your Disney Movies Anywhere-eligible movies using the Disney Movies Anywhere app to a maximum of eight different Disney Movies Anywhere-compatible devices within a 30-day period. If you attempt to add a new (i.e., ninth) device within that 30-day period, the device you used least recently will be removed from your account and replaced with the most recent device. Subject to the Disney Movies Anywhere Terms of Use, the number of times you can download a single movie to the devices associated with your account is unlimited, as long as you do not exceed the device limits described above.

If you have exceeded your device limits you will receive an error message.  You must connect your device to the Internet and login to Disney Movies Anywhere at least once every 90 days for downloaded movies to remain available for playback.
  • Currently, downloading within the Disney Movies Anywhere app is available in SD. SD movies are approximately 1-3 GB. The size of the movie file will vary based on the length of the movie. Streaming a movie requires minimal storage space since it plays directly over your Internet connection.

Downloading in iTunes is available in SD or HD. Please refer to iTunes for file size information.
  • You can select to download multiple movies, and your choices will be put in a queue and will download in the order you selected them.

  • You can stream movies in HD (720p) through Disney Movies Anywhere with certain HD-compatible PC’s and a fast Internet connection speed. Disney Movies Anywhere will automatically display the best video quality based on your device’s capabilities, supported software installed on your device and your Internet connection speed. Currently, movies you download to a device using the Disney Movies Anywhere app will download and play in SD only.

HD downloads are also available within iTunes, as described in the iTunes terms of use. Please refer to iTunes for more information on downloading HD  through iTunes.
  • Subject to certain restrictions, once a movie has been added to your Collection, you will have access to watch it as often as you like. For more information, see Disney Movies Anywhere Terms Of Use.

  • Poor video quality and buffering during movie streaming are usually due to slow Internet connection speed, less than optimal software, and/or a computer's/device’s processing speed. If your Internet speed is below the minimum requirement of 1.4 Mbps, streaming will not work optimally.

If your Internet connection is 1 Mbps+, here are a few recommendations:
    • Make sure you don't have additional programs, web pages, or active downloads.
    • Moving your device closer to your wireless router or switching to a wired connection may help improve poor connectivity.
    • Pause the video a few minutes to allow buffering.
    • If you’re on a laptop that’s using battery power, adjust your battery settings to High Performance.

  • If your video player only shows a blank or black screen on your computer, please confirm that you have the latest version of Adobe Flash Player installed.

If you are still having issues, please contact us.

  • You can prevent notifications from interfering with playback of your movies by adjusting your device settings.
